Weight loss tips, advice and motivation from a slimmer addicted to Oreos but fighting the battle of the bulge one pound at a time
Lose it
Slimming World
Personally, this is my favourite healthy eating plan. I don't really see it as such as a "diet" but more of a way of life. This is the one plan I have followed and never felt hungry or deprived at all. It can be maintained long term and can even be followed during pregnancy with your doctor or midwives approval. During my own pregnancy, my midwife was very happy with the fact that I wanted to follow the plan and I was delighted that I could do something to try and control my weight and keep my baby healthy at the same time.
Pros
Meals are very family friendly and varied. There are "free" foods like potatoes, pasta, eggs and lean meats and ham which can be eaten as much as you like without counting calories. There are also "superfree" foods which accelerate weight loss including many fruit and vegetables. You are also allowed around 15 "syns" a day which are great for little treats and extras throughout the day. What I like about this is the fact that you can even have chocolate everyday! Yes, chocolate! I usually use my syns on sweets and chocolate when I have sugar cravings. You can also have a portion of healthy extras consisting of one serving of dairy products and one serving of fibre per day.
Cons
One of the biggest cons for me is that bread is not encouraged to be eaten a lot. I love bread and although it can be eaten everyday if wanted, this is usually only a small portion. You can use syns on bread but eating too much of it may slow down weight loss. The plan does not educate you about calories so if you decide to come off it, you may find difficulty maintaining your weight loss long term.
